The LocalRES consortium met in Ispaster for our 8th bi-annual project meeting on this 10-11th of October.
This was Osimo‘s first meeting as a demo site, and while they were integrated in the project much farther along than our other demo sites, they seem to be catching up quite fast!
Their energy mix includes 23% of renewable energy sources, mostly from PV panels.
Osimo could be considered a microgrid, since there is one connection point with the national TSO grid. Energy flows back into the main grid about 800 hours every year – this means that Osimo could fulfil its energy demand with renewables and district heating while operating in an energy island mode.
Ten to fifteen households will take part in the Osimo local energy community [consumers/prosumers].
There were also significant updates from Berchidda – The community is up and running [orchestrated by the municipality and open to new membership] – there are 9 dwellings participating in LocalRES – the installation of heat pumps is almost complete and the the activities towards on e-mobility are running smoothly.
The consortium took a field visit to the biomass boilers facilities, batteries and both new and old solar panels in Ispaster. We were able to see the microgrid installations and how power is supplied to municipal buildings.
This was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and we look forward to continuing this at our next project meeting!
